Basseterre, St. Kitts (MoPIEUDT NEWS) – More than one year ago, on February 15, 2024, residents of St. Peters engaged with the Minister of Public Infrastructure and the Director of the Public Works Department (PWD) about anticipated roadwork on the St. Peters Main Road Rehabilitation Project. The public voiced their frustrations at the meeting, asked questions, and pleaded for upgrades to adjoining roadways, including those at White House Gardens. One year later, the Public Works Department’s response reverberates across the newly paved roads, sidewalks, and drains that the residents now enjoy.
The Roads and Drains Project began in the community of White House Gardens in St. Peters in the last quarter of 2024. The Ministry of Public Infrastructure contracted the project to ELCO Ltd. but retains oversight.
On Friday, April 11, 2025, MoPIEUDT NEWS visited White House Gardens to observe the project’s progress. Civil Engineer Cuthbert Burrell spoke with us about the project, including the construction of a storm drain for the area.

The current project phase will conclude on May 20, 2025.
