The St. Kitts Water Services Department (WSD) wishes to inform the general public that a Semi-Airborne Drone Geophysical Survey will commence on Thursday, December 5, 2024.
What is a Semi-Airborne Drone Geophysical Survey?
The survey uses drones with specialized equipment to fly over various areas and collect essential data from the ground below. The drones gather data about the Earth’s surface and subsurface, including soil composition, rock types, and groundwater levels. The data helps experts determine the best locations for water resources and assists with infrastructure development and environmental management.
The process is non-invasive and does not cause any harm to the environment. It allows the WSD to gather critical information without digging or disturbing the ground and is a quick and efficient way to collect data to improve data management systems.
The survey is island-wide and should take approximately three (3) weeks.
If you have any questions regarding this survey, please do not hesitate to contact the Water Services Department at water.services@gov.kn or 467-1005/1442.
