Public Works Department Assesses the Impact of Tropical Storm Ernesto as Normal Operations Resume

Date:

Basseterre, St. Kitts – One day after Tropical Storm Ernesto swept across the Leeward Islands, the Public Works Department (PWD) has mobilized its architects and engineers to conduct field assessments of the storm’s impact on the island. They will submit their findings to the Director of Public Works, George Gilbert, who will draft a report for submission to the National Emergency Management Agency, Mr. Gilbert informed.

Elsewhere across the island, the Roads Division of the Public Works Department is participating in cleanup activities while continuing the work it began before the storm made landfall. On August 14, 2024, the concrete crew will continue to replace speed bumps at the Beach Allen Primary School and work on the drains in St. Peters.

We will provide more information on the island-wide assessment of Tropical Storm Ernesto’s impact as it becomes available.
